Medium Duty PDF Print E-mail

Medium Duty Ropes are made from above average quality fibers, based on tenacity, abrasion resistance, and performance. The fibers and construction techniques are a bit less demanding than Heavy Duty Ropes. These ropes would be average in terms of quality and performance. Medium Duty Ropes provide a good value to the purchaser. The ropes are very popular with DIY jobs and for medium duty applications. Care must be exercised with abrasion and heat build-up, as the ropes have significant property changes (weakening) at 200° F. They generally fall into the category as follows:

Twisted Polypropylene

  • Most popular rope on the market today. Premium Polypropylene yarns are combined in these 3-stage ropes for a balanced construction product. Easy to splice (5 tucks minimum required). Good abrasion resistance. Resistant to rot, mildew, oils, gas and most chemicals. Good UV resistance. These ropes will float.

Truck Rope

  • Premium Polypropylene yarns are combined in these 3-stage ropes for a balanced construction product Black rope with orange tracer, this is the standard for the trucking industry. The rope of choice for California. Resistant to rot, mildew, oils, gas and most chemicals. Very good UV resistance.

Manilene

  • Imitation Manila. Same look and feel, without the “whiskers”. Premium Polypropylene yarns are combined in these 3-stage ropes for a balanced construction product. Resistant to rot, mildew, oils, gas and most chemicals. Good UV resistance.

Hollow Braided Polypropylene

  • Also called “ski rope”. Premium Polypropylene yarns are braided in a maypole braid, providing a torque-free rope. Easy to spice using a ball-point pen barrel. Good UV resistance. Resistant to rot, mildew, oils, gas and most chemicals.

Industrial Tying Twine

  • Hi-Draw Polypropylene fiber is twisted one time, providing the strongest tying twine on the market today. Excellent knot strength. Good UV resistance.
