Lite Duty PDF Print E-mail

Lite Duty ropes are made from economically priced fibers. The ropes are not usually strong, but rather have other characteristics that make them desirable (such as being bio-degradable). They are value-priced ropes and usually have a very short service life. They generally fall into the category as follows:

Twisted Cotton Rope

  • Made from cotton fibers. Excellent UV resistance. Average strength properties for these ropes, due to the short fibers in the cotton yarns. Must be stored dry. Highly susceptible to oils, gas, chemicals and any form of moisture. Cotton ropes are popular landscaping and decorative ropes.

Braided Utility Rope

A value priced Polypropylene rope. Various colors. Braided and non-rotational. Value priced fibers provide for limited service conditions. Average UV stabilization. Fair abrasion resistance. These ropes are value priced and usually have a very limited service life. The fibers weaken at 200° F, so abrasion and the resulting heat build-up should be avoided.
