1956 Red Bevis, a determined entrepreneur, founds Bevis Rope in a small garage behind his house. He introduces his first product to the marketplace—fish stringers, which he used on his weekend fishing trips. 1957 Like any determined entrepreneur, Red was always lookin’ for the next big idea. That idea just happened to be the rope “Bale Tie” he invented to replace metal bale ties for blending wool at the Peerless Woolen Mills in Rossville, GA. That innovative spirit continues today. 1978 Red’s approached by another innovative entrepreneur, Jack Kruesi, who sees an opportunity to take Bevis Rope to the next level. The company is purchased and a large-scale program of equipment addition and modernization is started. 1979 Twisted rope, also called laid rope, is added to the product line at Bevis. Three-strand twisted rope is the most common construction. Twisting the fibers substantially increases the tensile strength, improving rope’s pulling and connecting capacities. 1980 Monofilament extrusion is added to produce high-strength PP/PE plastic yarn. The yarn drawn from the machine is flexible, waterproof, has high intensity and is not susceptible to the elements. 1981 Always staying one jump ahead of customer needs and expectations, Bevis Rope broadens its product line, adding Package Rope. 1982 Bevis Rope invents a perfect circle rope (a rope with no end) for use on the carpet industry’s Heat Setting Equipment. This innovative idea takes carpet yarn out of the heat, eliminating imperfections that make it difficult for the yarn to go through the tufting needle. 1983 The first rope manufacturer to introduce novelty ropes, Bevis invents Camo-Rope®, used by sportsmen and elite military units that rappel or climb. 1984 That introduction is followed by another first, Drag-Line® rope, which is used in heavy construction, such as road or port, as well as strip-mining. 1985 A year later, Glo-Rope is invented by Bevis and it becomes an indispensible product for divers, military recon forces, the boating industry and campers. 1986 Finally, Glo-Clothesline®, another Bevis invention is brought to market and becomes a very popular product in American households. 1987 Rope Revolver®, a cordage dispensing system invented by Bevis, wins a coveted DIY Retailer® Award as one of the 10 best ideas of the year. The system revolutionizes the dispensing of rope and becomes one of the most copied systems in the cordage industry. 1989 The Rope Ryder®, a new and improved cordage dispensing system, is unveiled by Bevis Rope. For the first time, horizontal merchandising of Bulk rope is possible with no tangling. The system also greatly compresses the space needed to present bulk rope reels to a customer at retail. Major retailers take to the system instantly. 1990 Bevis introduces the Pop-Boxx®, the first collapsible box merchandising system for retailers. This box allows for quick and instant tear down for rack merchandisers, increasing the ease and affordability of re-cycling used boxes. 1991 Bevis Rope is busy again introducing a new bio-degradable product to the marketplace—Recycling Twine, which is landfill and recycling center compatible. This environmentally friendly Twine is used for tying bundlers of trash and newspapers together—another industry first! 1993 Two years later, Bevis Invents & Introduces Quik-Shot®—a ground-breaking development in rope for the Crab Industry in Alaska. This unique rope has no knot and integrates the characteristics of a Sinking Line and a Floating Line combined into one rope. 1994 Inspired and driven by the introduction of Quik-Shot®, Bevis introduces the soMar System for the Crab Industry. With matched twist factors and engineered performance characteristics, this is the first complete “system” for the commercial crab fisherman who plies the rugged Arctic waters and treacherous Bristol Bay fishing grounds. 1995 Bevis constantly studies the market, assessing emerging needs and trends. That forward thinking becomes the catalyst for the introduction of “Utility Rope” to the U.S. market. This multi-color, general-purpose product for retail use is another blockbuster. 1996 When customers ask, “How do I know which rope to use,” Bevis answers with another product introduction—‘Category Icons.’ The icons are placed on bags to help consumers make informed decisions about different kinds of rope usages. 1997 ‘Category Icons’ spark another Bevis idea and introduction. Bevis develops a merchandising system of Professional Duty, Heavy Duty, Medium Duty and Lite Duty Rope. It incorporates a novel Selection Guide that gives customers the ability to match fiber and rope construction characteristics with intended uses. 1999
Another Bevis first hits the market two years later. The company introduces an exclusive Application Guide, the most comprehensive guide to-date for general rope usages and applications. 2003 With the increasing market for Synthetic rope, Bevis installs Multifilament Polypropylene Extrusion to its plant. This is where the plastic pellets and other substances come together as they are heated to extreme temperatures to form the synthetic fibers that make rope. 2004 Bevis Rope adds Double Braid Nylon and Double Braid Polyester Ropes to their product line. Both products combine low stretch, high strength and chafe resistance into one rope, providing customers with abrasion protection and longer life. 2006 Bevis Rope is featured on a 15-minute segment of the History Channel. The program focuses on the company’s industry innovations and many new product introductions. Bevis becomes the first rope company to be featured on National television. 2007 Following on the heels of Bevis Rope’s earlier television success, the company is featured on “Cool Tools,” making it the second rope company to be featured on a National television show. 2010 Bevis Rope introduces……Three years in development, this rope….
