PLANT TOUR
               Twisted Rope
We purchase Polypropylene resin from the major chemical companies. We bring it in by truck and blow it into our silo system for storage.

Automatically, the resin flows through measuring equipment to precisely monitor and feed the next process. It is at this stage that we add color concentrate and other additives to enhance the quality of the finished product.

Our extruders are fed by gravity. A "corkscrew" in a barrel feeds the resin forward. The barrel is heated with heaters to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The resin becomes molten and comes out of the extruder through a series of very small holes. This is the first appearance of "rope fiber".

The fiber is instantly  quenched in a water bath. This allows handling of the fiber. In its molten form, it would be sticky and we could not work with it.

After quenching, the fiber is fed through a series of rolls. The first series are slow, or "braking" rolls (called "godets"). The fiber goes through an oven or series of ovens to another series of rolls that stretch the fiber. The fiber is taken back to about 300 degrees F. in the oven and stretched anywhere from 4 times to a high of 8 times. The more it is stretched, the stronger the finished product. If the fiber is stretched too much, it does not become weaker... it simply breaks.

The fiber goes to a twisting stage. State of the art Danish twisters twist the fiber.

The twisted fiber goes to rope machines. Large machines make large rope, small machines make small rope.
The finished product is ready to ship to our customers.

               Braided Rope
After extruding our fiber, we place it in a creel to feed the winders. In addition to our own extruded fiber ( Monofilament Polypropylene and Multifilament Polypropylene), we also purchase  Industrial Polyester and Industrial Nylon from the major fiber suppliers.

We wind the yarn on to bobbins.

The bobbins then go to the braiding machines. Our machines are state-of-the-art Rateras, made in Spain. The larger machines make larger ropes, the smaller machines make smaller ropes.

The rope is placed on a spool for shipment if the customer has requested bulk.

If a customer wants rope in a bag, that braided ( or twisted) rope goes through custom made machines (designed and built by Bevis Rope) that package it in  a Poly Bag. The bag is packed for shipping.
